Kitty is sent to Washington to speak to the Senate committee that is deciding whether or not to continue funding Dr. Fleming's research for the Center for Paranatural Biology. Her lawyer Sam and Cormac end up in town with her. On her first day in Washington DC Kitty is summoned by the local vampire mistress to stay with her for protection. Kitty's adventures in DC continue her journey as the first "outed" paranatural person in the US. She unwittingly becomes a celebrity, much to her dismay. I enjoyed the continuation of her story. I listened to this on audiobook, but I had some trouble getting past the narrators voice. It just didn't fit the late 20's radio dj voice that I heard in my mind when I read the first book. I was able to get past the voice sounding much to old for what I thought Kitty should sound like but it still bothered me from time to time.
